Understanding Pride Month from a Biblical Perspective

As today marks the beginning of the world's "Pride Month, mostly the west," .Now, I want to urge everyone to pray for these heathen. Pray for the person who posts on social media supporting it. Pray for the person you see wearing Pride Month attire. Pray for the company that is selling pride items nor promoting it. Pray for those who are supporting it. Pray that God would work in their hearts and open their eyes to their error and their need for Him.

The Biblical Perspective on Pride

From a biblical standpoint, pride is often viewed as sinful. The Bible offers many verses that speak against pride and promote humility.

Old Testament Insights:

  1. Proverbs 16:18: "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall." This verse highlights the perilous nature of pride. It suggests that pride precedes ruin and a downfall, indicating that a humble heart is more favorable in God's eyes.
  2. Psalm 10:4: "In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God." This verse indicates that pride can lead individuals away from seeking God, resulting in a lack of spiritual connection and reverence.

New Testament Insights:

  1. James 4:6: "But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: 'God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.'" James reiterates the importance of humility, emphasizing that God favors the humble over the proud.
  2. 1 Peter 5:5: "In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, 'God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.'" This verse encourages believers to adopt an attitude of humility towards each other, aligning with God's preference for humility over pride.
  3. Philippians 2:3: "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves." Paul urges the believers in Philippi to act with humility, placing others' needs above their own, which stands in stark contrast to prideful behavior.

Praying for the LGBTQ+ Community

  1. Pray for Awareness of God's Love: Pray that individuals celebrating Pride Month come to understand and experience the profound love that God has for them. John 3:16 reminds us, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
  2. Pray for Spiritual Awakening: Pray that God opens their eyes to His truth and their need for Him. Ephesians 1:18 says, "I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people."
  3. Pray for Repentance and Transformation: Pray that individuals may come to repentance and experience the transforming power of the Gospel. Acts 3:19 encourages, "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord."

While Pride Month presents a challenging issue for many Christians, it also offers an opportunity to demonstrate Christ's love and truth. Let us choose to pray for those involved and engage with them in a spirit of love, compassion and share the wrath of God because of their wretched sinful lifestyle and so that they may aware that they need a savior . By doing so, we can truly be the salt and light of the world, embodying the example of Jesus Christ in our interactions
